ALA is nearly here!

It is now one week until the American Library Association annual conference here in Anaheim! I am SO FREAKIN’ EXCITED. I finally figured out how to use the schedule on the ALA website and I’ve got a basic game plan for Sat-Sun-Mon. Like always, there’s some conflicts with author signing times– for example, between 1:00 and 3:00 on Saturday there are about 15 authors who I’d like to get signed books from. I’m not expecting to actually GET 15 autographs, especially because of every conference attendee’s nightmare: the lines.

Still, there are three authors who I MUST get autographs from because I love them/their books/etc. and having their autographs will make me insanely happy. These authors are: Susan Cooper, Garth Nix, and Eve Bunting.

Just the fact that these three are going to be there! Holy crap, so exciting. SUSAN COOPER. WHO IS SIGNING THE DARK IS RISING. ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOK SERIES EVER. I hope I don’t faint when I meet her.

Other exciting authors who will be there! Lemony Snicket/Daniel Handler (he’s signing books as both people, haha!), Libbra Bray, Michael Grant, Cornelia Funke, KA Applegate (signing an Animorphs book?), Kenneth Oppel, Wendelin Van Drannen, Pseudonymous Bosch (seriously), Jacqueline Woodson (!), Jack Gantos.

HOLY CRAP. This ALA is going to be awesome.

Now. I DO have questions, and I’m hoping someone can answer them. đŸ˜€
1. Can I pick up my badge before the conference starts on Friday? Like, on Friday morning?
2. Will there be a luggage storage area thing like at BEA?
3. Who else has got a crazy autograph schedule? I don’t want to be the only weirdo.

I actually went to the convention center on Wednesday and it’s LOVELY. And huge! Huge and lovely. And parking is $12, btw, so that kind of sucks. They’ve got a coffee thing (not Starbucks) and I’m pretty sure some kind of food thing, which’ll be nice if I get hungry.

Yay ALA! Saturday can’t get here soon enough.
