Happy blogoversary to meeeee

Howdy! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’m still plowing through library school and two jobs and being tired almost all the time, but I DO still want to blog– although probably not in the same way I’ve blogged for the past seven years. Yes, y’all, it’s my 7th blogoversary this month! I’ve gone from starting on WordPress.com under an entirely different name during a boring undergrad semester to being self-hosted today during a not-boring, Read More …

Planning for 2015: Blog and Reading Goals

Blogging Goals I’m joining the Book Blogger Organization Challenge for 2015! Challenges tend to be more miss than hit for me nowadays, but I like this one because it involves a lot of tinkering with my blog and book collection– things I love to do. January’s theme is Reading challenges, scheduling, & resolutions. I’ve decided this year to focus on readalongs/book clubs instead of themed reading challenges, since it’s easier to commit to reading one Read More …

Podcasts for book lovers, part 2: Non-Fiction

I have a huge commute nowadays (~5 hours round trip and I am totally for serious about that) which is mostly a really boring bus ride when it isn’t punctuated by flashers or foul stenches. Thus I have been listening to a LOT of podcasts! What are podcasts? They’re kind of like what old radio shows used to be: people talking into a microphone about all kinds of topics. There are comedy podcasts, drama podcasts, Read More …

Weekly links & wrap-up (Mar. 23, 2014)

Got some $0.99 books at Goodwill! I have the LMB books as ebooks already, but I wanted to start a paper collection and these ones were in perfect conditions. The Katherine Kurtz ones are both starts to series; I’ve never read her books, but apparently they’re historical fiction fantasies with very detailed worlds and maybe some political shenanigans. And the Indiana Jones one is just for fun! #books #thriftstore #california #socal

Yearly Wrap-up Part 2: Blogging Hits (& Misses) of 2013

Jamie of The Perpetual Page-Turner is hosting her annual end of year book survey again, and since I had fun doing it in 2012 I figured I’d do it for 2013, too! All wrap-up posts: Part 1 (Books) | Part 2 (http://heretherebebooks.net/2013/12/30/yearly-wrap-up-part-2-blogging-hits-misses-of-2013/) | Part 3 (Goals) | Part 4 (Stats) Part 2: Blogging 1. Monthly Wrap-Up (November 2013)

This month may not have been all that awesome for reading, but it was awesome for BUYING BOOKS! Kobo had(/has) some really good coupons and I splurged. I splurged a LOT. I ended up getting over 100 books, so I’m set for the next few years, at LEAST! I mostly got books that were on my wishlist, or that were by favorite authors (Jessica Day George!), and anyway I’m really excited to have so many Read More …

Monthly Wrap-Up (Apr. 2013)

This is my stats post for April 2013! My thoughts about April, as well as my plans for May, will be posted tomorrow in my regular Chitchat feature. Reading Stats April’s To Be Read List had 14 books on it, and I read 4 of them. I DNF’d 0 and didn’t even attempt to read 10. I think I’m gonna skip making a reading list for May– I need to re-evaluate having reading lists since Read More …
