The Sunday Salon (Feb. 12): Time

Now that I’ve moved to California, I’ve lived in every time zone in the continental US at one point or another. That’s kind of exciting! And living in the PST zone is, I’ve found, the most exciting one of all. I’ve been feeling lately like I’m on an entirely different schedule than everyone else, like because I’m living PST I’m almost getting away with something. For instance: when people complain that it’s late and they’re Read More …

The Sunday Salon (Feb. 5): Good/bad things

Bad things: 1. People sending me notices about “events” they’re doing online when those events are actually just giveaways. Stop it! 2. People emailing me review offers for things that are completely outside of what I normally read/review here. Multiple times. 3. Hulu videos taking forever to buffer. It took me over an hour to watch the first episode of Smash! (Loved it, btw. Musicals!!) 4. Having to lug around all those used books which Read More …

The Sunday Salon (Jan. 22): The "this week sucks" edition

So this past week has been pretty shitty. Why? Because of reasons. Something went wonky at the PO and two of my packages got sent back– including one that I’m pretty sure won’t be refunded, so I’m out $30. I lost my iPod Touch somewhere in a mall somewhere, and no-one’s going to return it even if I ask on Craigslist. And we might not be getting the condo we want that’s basically perfect for Read More …

The Sunday Salon (Jan. 15): The looking-at-condos edition (& a small PNR rant)

We went out to look at a potential condo today, and it was super nice! The complex was nice, the condo itself was nice, and I think it’s something we could be happy in. The bathroom is weird, but that’s fixable later if we really hate it. The parentals are moving things forward to see if we can actually get that condo, and we’re all kind of nervous and excited and stuff. Woo! Meanwhile, I Read More …

The Sunday Salon (Jan. 8): California edition

lol on thinking I’d be light on blogging this week. I’ve found it surprisingly easy to keep up with blogging if I just a) focus on doing one post at a time, b) dedicate an hour or so to actually doing the blogging and c) schedule posts in advance. All I need after that is wifi access and luckily all the hotels we’ve stayed at so far has wifi access for free. So that’s good Read More …

The Sunday Salon (Jan. 1): Book Blogger Holiday Card Exchange news & other stuff

Okay! So, first off: I’m on my way to California! We’ve finished packing, cleaning, and stuffing ourselves into the car, and as you’re reading this we’re (hopefully) heading towards Arizona. Secondly! I’ll probably be light on the blogging for the next week or so. I think this is kind of obvious– not sure what hotels will have wifi or not. I’ve got some posts pre-written for end of the year wrap ups and things, though, Read More …

The Sunday Salon (Dec. 25): On being stressed out and what to expect for 2012

I don’t know if it’s just because I’m super stressed about moving, or if I’ve actually gone off book blogging, but lately I’ve been wishing I didn’t have a book blog at all. It feels like it’s an obligation, like I’ve trapped myself into this thing that I don’t want to do but I have to keep doing it because otherwise I’ll be a failure. It’s like I have to read so many books a Read More …
