Chitchat (4)

I think I gave myself a migraine the other day by reading too many books. Isn’t that TRAGIC? Reading is what I do when I’m bored, and lately I’ve been VERY bored. I’ve been reading two or three books a day, actually, and that’s alleviated the boredom heaps. Until I knocked myself out of commission with a text-induced migraine. Ugh.

If there’s one thing I hate it’s not being allowed to read. My mom once punished me by taking away my books; I didn’t last even two hours before begging for them back. Spending a good 12 hours without them was horrible! I couldn’t even listen to an audiobook, because the sound hurt my head too much. Again I say ugh.

What do you do when you’re too sick to enjoy a book? Mostly I end up watching TV shows or staring at the wall wishing I wasn’t sick. How about you?

  1. When I can’t manage to read, for whatever reason, I usually turn to TV-on-DVD. It satisfies my need for large-scale story, but the delivery is different enough that I can wrap my mind around it without tripping over whatever makes it difficult for me to focus on text-based fiction.

  2. I was home sick yesterday, and when I could no longer focus on my book, I turned to Netflix. I fully believe that Netflix was made for sick days.

  3. I hate those reading-induced headaches but I love them so much too! Nothing tells you that you’ve been reading your butt off like those headaches. I usually end up taking a nap when I get one or watching TV. Hope it goes away soon so you can go back to reading. 😉
