Chitchat (29)

I went to the LA Times Festival of Books last weekend! (And that’s why there were no weekend posts. Just in case you were wondering.) I’m still writing up my post(s) about it, but for now here’s a sneak peek:

Not much else has happened since then. What’s up with you all? Anything exciting?

Currently Reading (22)

I DNF’d Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by John le Carre yesterday. It’s one of those books that I’ve been meaning to read for forever, and I’m proud to say that I nearly understand all of it. Compared to the last time I tried to read it (in 9th grade?), when I didn’t understand ANY of it, this is a vast improvement. Alas, I got really bored somewhere around the halfway mark, and I didn’t want to force myself through the rest of it just I could say I’d read it. Oh well.

Right now I’m reading Moab is My Washpot by Stephen Fry. I can ALMOST hear his voice narrating the text, so it’s almost as good as listening to the audiobook version would be. I think this is the last memoir of his I have to read, too! Until he writes the next one, anyway.

What are you reading this week?

    • I haven’t really been finishing anything, either, which is terrible because I have ALL these library books which I’ve dragged home on various bus trips and they’re just sitting there, not being read. LE SIGH.

  1. I really wanted to go to the festival, but wasn’t able to. I read all of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, but I’m not sure if I understood everything. I liked the book that came before it, The Spy Who Came in From the Cold.
