Currently reading: comics! ALL the comics!

Because San Diego Comic Con’s happening, Marvel’s got a discount going on for their Marvel Unlimited thingy. Normally it’s $9.99/month, but from now until July 29th you can get one month for $0.99! I’ve signed up and I’ve been reading ALL THE COMICS and basically August will now be comicbook month at HTBB.

Marvel Unlimited works best when you’ve got a tablet, patience, an internet connection, and recommendations on what to read.

Here’s my recommendations!
Hawkeye Weapon vol 1 Hawkeye (2012-present) by Matt Fraction and David Aja (and others)

The breakout star of this summer’s blockbuster AVENGERS film and self-made hero Hawkeye fights for justice! With ex-Young Avenger Kate Bishop by his side, he’s out to prove himself as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!Matt Fraction & David Aja (IMMORTAL IRON FIST) reunite to tell the on-going tales of the Arrow-Avenger!

Btw, MU is 6 months behind print publication, so it’s not super up-to-date. However! The equivalent of the first two volumes of Hawkeye is up there and if you read nothing else but that, it’s a VERY GOOD deal. (Check out my review of volume 1 here.)

Uncanny X-men (1963-2011) by lots of people

The flagship X-Men comic for over 40 years, Uncanny X-Men delivers action, suspense, and a hint of science fiction month in and month out. Follow the adventures of Professor Charles Xavier’s team of mutants as they attempt to protect a world that hates and fears them.

I’ve dumped my black and white hardback for the shiny, colorful versions on Marvel Unlimited. Somehow, the color is not as good as I was hoping? It’s so garish it almost makes it hard to read.

runaways Runaways (2003-2004) by Brian K. Vaughan and Takeshi Miyazawa

Ever think your parents were evil? Meet the Runaways, a group of Los Angeles kids whose parents really are! Gifted with powers and technology from their super villain mothers and fathers, Alex, Niko, Chase, Gert, Karolina and Molly must find their own way in one of Marvel’s most beloved series in recent memory!

You may know of Brian K. Vaughan because of Y: The Last Man and Saga! Yes. This is the first Runaways series and it’s amazing.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (2011-present) by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli

Meet Miles Morales, the NEW Ultimate Comics Spider-Man! Following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Peter Parker, Miles prepares for the biggest change of his life! It’s the same high-flying adventure you’ve come to love but with a whole new Ultimate Comics Reborn twist. Power and responsibility take on a whole new meaning in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man!

Okay, so I’ve technically only read the first issue but it was really good! (If sad.)

What else should I read? Do you have any recommendations for me?
