Monthly Review (October 2010)

October was a pretty good month! It was the halfway mark for the semester, which mean midterms, so I was a little frazzled for about a week or so. It was also fall break, which meant I had a four day weekend, and it was, finally, the month of the fall 2010 readathon. Quite a lot going on there, and yet it didn’t really FEEL busy. I also read a few really good books, which helped.

So my goals for October were to get conversation going (check), to do the readathon (check), and to celebrate Halloween (dud). Two out of three ain’t bad!

My goals for November are: to win NaNoWriMo (and write about it a bit here), to not screw up the Book Bloggers Holiday Card Exchange, and to maybe think about hosting a reading challenge for next year.

Amazon: $8.68. Not bad, but means it won’t get deposited until, like January.
Powell’s: $0. I think I’m just going to dump Powell’s and stick with Amazon, because it’s the only thing that’s ever given my affiliate earnings!
Total for the year so far: $74.19
Results: August didn’t make it up over $10, but when combined with September’s earnings I think I should be seeing a deposit later this month, maybe? And then maybe I can buy a book with it when Black Friday rolls around!

I added a buttload of new blogs this past month, so I’m just going to list them in alphabetical order like so:
A Bookshelf Monstrosity | A Little Bookish | Austenprose | Emily’s Reading Room | Hist-Fic Chick | Life Is A Patchwork Quilt | Literary Explorations | Mindful Musings | Read This Book! | Reading the Past | Sweet Reads | That’s What She Read | The Elliot Review | The Romantic Armchair Traveller | The Tome Traveller’s Weblog | YA Bookshelf

  1. Great wrapup, and what a great reading month you’ve had, and with midterms and all. I’m impressed! Best of luck in November! And if you need any help with the card exchange or anything do let me know.

  2. Thank you for mentioning The Romantic Armchair Traveller in your list of new discoveries, Anastasia. That was a lovely surprise 🙂 You have a fascinating mix of books in your archives, which I look forward to exploring more closely.
