Chitchat / Currently Reading (Mar. 31)

Chitchat (27) Today’s the last day of March, so it’s time for my monthly wrap-up thoughts and such! March was pretty awesome: I got a job, I built two shelves and I bought new glasses! And new sunglasses!1 In book/blog news, I posted 28 posts (including this one)– almost one a day!– and I read 25 books. WOW. My favorite part of March was participating in Diana Wynne Jones Month. I really loved reading a Read More …

Chitchat / Currently Reading (+ two pseudo-reviews)

Chitchat (26) My first week back at work went REALLY well. It’s busy, but not as busy as in the fall (at my end, anyway). This is the least stressed I’ve ever been, I think, so it’s really nice. I’m also able to listen to audiobooks while I work, and I’ve been taking advantage of that. So far I’ve listened to two audiobooks1: Rescuing the Spectacled Bear by Stephen Fry (read by Stephen Fry) and Read More …

A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan

Chitchat (25) Guess what? I got a job! Well, technically it’s the SAME job (data entry) with the same company, but it’s a new season and a few more months of income, so YAY! This means that I’ll be absent from the internet again until the weekends, but don’t worry: I’ve scheduled posts for the next week and a half, and if I can keep up with my writing schedule I’ll be able to schedule Read More …

Chitchat (24) Good news! I got more bookshelves! Yaaaaay! I haven’t put them together yet, but once I do I’ll take pictures. I still haven’t really taken pics of my other bookshelf either, have I? I’ll get on that this week, I think. I don’t really have any other personal news, so let’s talk about book events, instead! Here’s some upcoming SoCal book events (you can find more at the SoCal Book Events Doc!): Tomorrow Read More …

Chitchat (23) February was an up and down month– I didn’t finish a book for more than a week, but I DID read some really good books in the other weeks. I flew across the country and spent some time with my family, but it wasn’t an overly happy ocassion. And finally, I turned 25! (I don’t feel any different, really, except maybe slightly more depressed.) More things: – I registered for BEA 2013. – Read More …

Chitchat (22) So it turns out that I don’t really want to talk about my emergency family-related trip to Baltimore? So I won’t. But basically it was an emotional rollercoaster and while I got to see some of my extended family, I wish it had been under better circumstances. Also I didn’t finish a single freakin’ book. Oh well. My birthday is tomorrow! I’m going to be 25. It’s a little bit scary, especially since Read More …

Chitchat / Currently Reading (Feb. 10)

Chitchat (21) I’m going to be in Baltimore for the next week or so, visiting family. 😀 I expect to be online ocassionally, but I’m not sure how blogging will go. I’ve got a few posts scheduled so anything else will just be a bonus, I suppose! In other news, I need ideas for Tips for (Newbie) Bloggers! I mean, I HAVE some ideas, but they’re kinda boring. So! Do you have a question about Read More …

Chitchat / Currently Reading (Feb. 3)

Chitchat (20) January is over and we’re officially out of the beginning of the year. I’m pretty satisfied with my book life in January: I made my reading goal (21 books), I’m not TOO far behind on reviews, and I made a genuine effort towards my reading challenges. I also gave my layout an overhaul. Huzzah! January was also the time I experimented with my review format a bit. It’s basically been the same since, Read More …

Chitchat (19) First, read this: 8 Things Every Blogging Writer Should Know @ Writer’s Digest My mom sent me this link the other day (thanks, mom!) and I think a lot of it applies to book bloggers as well as freelance ones. The thing I have the toughest time with is #1: coming up with a good title. I think I’ve come up with three really EXCELLENT titles in the 4+ years I’ve been blogging, Read More …

Chitchat (18) Don’t feel much like actually chit-chatting this week, sooooo let’s have some interesting links instead, yeah? Tahereh Mafi’s amazing Shatter Me shoes, at her Tumblr. I’ve never read Shatter Me (should I?) but I LOVE these shoes. SO SHINY. Her Tumblr on a whole is very pretty, too! Foz Meadows’ guest post on The Book Smugglers, about bad boys in books. It is an AMAZING post– please do go check it out! Here’s Read More …
