Weekly reading, vol. 4

Yay, I’m back! What a week I’ve had. First, I decided to change hosts last weekend1 and things, of course, went awry. I finally got it all fixed (hopefully) but next time I think I’m just gonna pay someone to do it for me because that was exhausting. Second, my work library opened and it was non-stop students and teachers! Yay! The first few days were a little bumpy, but by Wednesday I’d perfected my Read More …

Weekly reading, vol. 3

I am currently pretty swamped with school stuff, but I still managed to sneak in a few books this week. Books read This was a breath of fresh air after the many somewhat mediocre reads from the last two weeks! I enjoyed learning more about Seregil’s past and about the society he comes from; also enjoyable was the little details of his and Alec’s relationship (finally! kissing! and MORE!) and all the emotional turmoil that Read More …

Weekly reading, vol. 2

I’ve finished reorganizing my work library, which is great! I’m exhausted, but very excited for the students to finally get in there and mess around with the books. My new library computer also showed up on Friday which means I can finally add in the new students, update records, finish adding in new books, etc. Library opens in ONE WEEK! Goodness. Meanwhile, I’ve been vegging out on TV between doing school projects. I’ve started the Read More …

Weekly reading, vol. 1

Hello, hello! It’s hot, the main power break for our house died two days ago and we’ve been dealing with that, I’m super busy with school and I haven’t got a ton of blogging mojo to spare. But I DO want to blog! About books! Books I read this week between doing homework, group meetins, and reorganizing the collection at work (more on that in a later post). Books read Tbh, not the BEST week Read More …

Scribd is driving me nuts with this mass deletion of romance novels. Apparently they don’t actually know how to do it. Books are available, then they’re not, then they’re expiring, then they’re gone. Then they’re back, and so are half the books that were deleted last month! I keep having to check and recheck my library to see what I can read and what’s gone for good. Ugh. That said, I’ve been getting a lot Read More …

Recently: a bunch of Scribd books

So Scribd removed thousands of romance and self-published books from their catalog this week. More about that here and here if you haven’t already heard about it. Basically, Scribd is screwing themselves with high payout rates and low subscription prices; people are reading too many books per month for what they pay in membership prices, and so Scribd thought the best thing to do was remove access to thousands of books. They gotta do what Read More …

I, too, have seen and loved Taylor Swift’s new music video, Bad Blood. Such a fun video! Winner: The Crimson Curse as best super spy name. This past week was the Bout of Books, which went pretty well for me! I ended up reading five books, four of which were comics. I got a little sidetracked on Friday when my shiny new computer showed up1 and all I wanted to do was transfer files and Read More …

Currently reading: Lady Knight

I had major book hangover after finishing Uprooted last week and it’s only just now that I’m getting over it with help from LJ Baker’s Lady Knight. It’s a medieval-ish fantasy romance with a charming widow and an emotionally constipated female knight! Rhiannon (the knight) is more into chivalry and honor than anyone ever, which leads to a lot of scenes where she’s super courtly and polite while Eleanor (the widow) tries to make her Read More …

March is not going so well for me, outside of my fun new job. Last week I had the flu, which meant all I wanted to do was stay in bed and star at Netflix for hours on end. And then this week I pulled something really badly in my neck which meant more laying around watching Netflix. I had about one afternoon of perfect health in the last two weeks which is when I Read More …

Currently reading: Sheepfarmer’s Daughter

The first week of my new job is at a close and, y’all, my new library is completely adorable and the school is great and I really like it! I’m completely exhausted and there’s a lot of work to do in the next few months (inventory!), but I’m super excited to be starting this new chapter in my life. My commute is about half the length it was for my previous job. YAY! But I Read More …
